This paper seeks to assess a sustainable waste management practices in a higher education institution of Ghana. The driving force for this research is the increase in the volumes of daily waste on university campuses as a result of increasing number of students’ enrolment and other university events and services. The mixed method approach was used for this study. A total sample of 214 students from Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) was used for the study. The research aimed at collating the requisite information from students from Level 100 to the graduate level on their assessments on solid waste management practices at GCTU. Findings from the studies revealed that the various types of solid waste generated by most students was paper which was not surprising in a school setting, followed by plastics waste and then organic waste.
