A review of the relevant literature indicates that corporate culture as a measure of employee engagement especially in the public sector of a developing country in Africa such as Ghana has been given limited research efforts. To address this, the study adopted Handy’s cultural framework as limited efforts have been geared toward investigating the effect each of Handy’s four pillars of culture has on employee engagement. The multiple regression technique was used to test the hypothesised relationships between the variables in the study. A sample of two hundred and sixty-seven (267) employees was randomly drawn from selected public-sector organisations in Ghana. Findings from the study established that, achievement and support cultures significantly cause employees to be engaged in the public sector of Ghana whilst power culture has a significant, but negative relationship with employee engagement. The relationship between role culture and employee engagement is not significant. The study recommends that, in order for the skilled employees in the Ghanaian public sector organisations to be highly engaged, management of such organisations should increase the extent of achievement and support cultures and minimize the extent of power culture while paying only a little attention to role culture. A secondary data in a panel form of seven banks listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange was examined over a period of nine years, using a linear multiple regression model. One key measure of profitability was analyzed in this study that is return on equity. The independent variables included in the regression model were nonperforming loan to total loans and advances, and loans and advances to total deposits, bank size, leverage and growth. The results for the study indicate that non-performing loan to total loans and advances and loans and advances to total deposits have significant negative relationship with return on equity. Furthermore, a negative insignificant relationship was established between size and return on equity but significant positive relationships were found between growth and leverage and profitability. Thus, a field assessment of the benthos in the Laloi lagoon was carried in January 2012. Four replicate samples were taken at each station contained in three zones and analysed for their structure and composition. Twenty-one (21) species of macrobenthos belonging to 19 genera were identified. The highest number of species belonged to Polychaetes (15 species) followed by Bivalves (6 species) and 1 species of Gastropod. The grain size of sediments and total organic matter as essential factors in distribution and population diversity of macrobenthos communities were also analysed. The results showed that all of the stations were characterized by medium sand to very fine sand. Shannon-Wiener index (H'), species richness (S) and Pielou’s evenness were calculated and they revealed a high species diversity with variability in abundance within stations. The ecological indices, such as (AMBI, M-AMBI, BENTIX and H’) were also applied to the available benthic species data to determine the ecological status of the lagoon. AMBI, M-AMBI, H'and BENTIX gave different results regarding the boundaries for High, Good and Moderate and it was worse when applying H'and BENTIX. However, the index AMBI provided a more suitable evaluation of EcoQS corresponding to ‘slightly polluted’lagoons in compliance with univariate community indices.
