<text>The study examined the impact of trade openness and domestic credit to the private sector (DCP) on the growth of the Ghanaian economy. The study therefore examined the extent to which trade openness and domestic credit to the private sector impact GDP growth with other covariates such as inflation, exchange rate and foreign direct investments both in the short and the long run. Data was gleaned from the World Bank database spanning from 1970 to 2021. The study adopted the bound test approach using the autoregressive distributed lag estimation. Our results showed that trade openness has a positive relationship with economic growth both in the short and the long run while no such significant relationship was observed for domestic credit to the private sector. Again, we observed a positive relationship between inflation and GDP growth at least, in the short run. The study recommends policies that will …</text>

<text>The dilemma surrounding the use of fossil fuels has led to demands for renewable energy and other clean energy sources. Renewable energy sources are not only unlimited but also have less negative impact on the environment and promote energy independence. The study uses the recent redesign of education in Ghana to assess how improved access to education can impact nonrenewable energy consumption. Using annual time-series data from 1976 to 2020, we estimate the long-term impact of human capital development on nonrenewable energy consumption in Ghana. Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS), Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) and Canonical Cointegration Regression (CCR) were used to check the robustness. The results show that the development of human capital (returns on education) reduces the use of nonrenewable energy. In addition, other variables such as …</text>

<text>Africa’s economy continues to be characterized by increasing environmental pollution caused by anthropogenic activities. Despite the implications of environmental pollution in the continent, little attention has been paid to it, although almost all its countries are signatories to the Paris Agreement. One macroeconomic variable that has proven to be a major driver of environmental pollution in the region is industrialization. However, despite the numerous explorations on the connection between industrialization and environmental degradation, limited studies have examined the linkage amidst the series in East Africa. This study was, therefore, conducted to help fill that gap. In accomplishing this goal, econometric techniques that control cross-sectional correlations, heterogeneity, and endogeneity, among others, were employed for the analysis. From the results, the panel under consideration was heterogeneous and cross sectionally correlated. In addition, the studied series were first differenced stationary and co-integrated in the long run. The elasticities of the regressors were explored via the cross sectionally augmented autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL) estimator, the cross sectionally augmented distributed lag (CS-DL) estimator, and the augmented mean group (AMG) estimator. According to the results, industrialization led to a reduction in the environmental quality in the region through high CO2 emissions. In addition, financial development, foreign direct investments, urbanization, and energy consumption were not environmentally friendly in the bloc. On the causal linkages amid the series, bidirectional causalities between …</text>

Empirical evidence about the impact of policy integration and renewable energy deployment on environmental sustainability, especially with nitrous oxide emissions, is missing in academic literature. This study investigates the impact of policy integration in renewable energy deployment and its effect on environmental sustainability in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Using data from 41 SSA countries from 1998 to 2020, we employ the generalized linear model (GLM) and panel quantile regression to address methodological challenges. Our findings indicate that policy integration and renewable energy are crucial …</text>

<text>The rate at which Ghana’s domestic debt is increasing has raised concerns among economists and policymakers, due to the former’s potential effect on private sector growth, economic growth rate and debt sustainability. The objective of this study is to examine Ghana’s domestic debt, its sustainability on economic growth rate and the causal relationship between debt and growth. Using data from the World Bank and the Ministry of Finance for the period between 1994 and 2018, we estimate an ARDL Model to examine the effect of domestic debt on economic growth and private sector investment. We adopt the cointegration and fully modified regression to examine domestic debt sustainability. The results indicate that increases in Ghana’s domestic debt are growth-enhancing while increased in importation is growth-inhibiting. The fully modified regression and Johansen co-integration test model also suggest that the …</text>

Two (2) head librarians and two (2) assistant librarians from these institutional libraries participated in the study. A qualitative research design was employed to collect data for the study and the data were analyzed by thematic analysis. Findings indicated that these two university libraries received donations on regular basis from their partners. It was established that majority of the materials received were in the area of theology and that they received fewer donations in the other subject areas offered in the Universities.</text>
