The School Feeding Programme (SFP) is one of the strategies that can aid basic school enrolment and sustain education in the higher levels required for development. The present study looks at the effect of the School Feeding Programme on basic education in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The need for the study emanates from many reports suggesting that the SFP is bedeviled with lots of challenges. These challenges include, but not limited to, the lack of funds, political patronage in the selection of caterers, and the inability to expand the programme to cover more public schools in the country. The study specifically examines the views of stakeholders on operations and management at the school level; assesses the effects of SFP on enrolment, attendance, retention, and completion rates of pupils, and identify the challenges facing the SFP. The study relied on mixed method approach for the procurement of empirical data. SPSS and Stata were used to analyze the primary quantitative data, with Excel being used to produce the graphs. The qualitative data were transcribed, coded, and analyzed thematically, using Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA).The study found that the SFP motivates children to enroll, remain, and complete basic school. The lack of resources was found to constraint the caterers to provide good services. In general, the programme is a good one with the potential to boost education at the basic level towards the alleviation of poverty. Growth in any industry is linked to satisfaction given to customers of that industry. The key to maintaining a competitive advantage in service delivery can be attributed to the implementation of lean techniques and principles. This study assesses lean implementation in the after sales service of the air condition industry using Cold Temperatures Limited as a case study. This assessment is done by applying lean techniques and principles in the minimization of waste. A brief background of lean principles and techniques by various authors is presented which includes both empirical and theoretical review of the literature. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. Observations were done and questionnaires administered randomly to active customers of Cold Temperatures Limited after calculating the sample size using Yamane’s (1967) formula. Furthermore, data collection was done by walking the shop floor and recording the processing and lead times for service delivery. SPSS and Excel were used to generate tables and charts which helped in analysing data obtained and also identify the wastes within the company. The Pareto chart and cause and effect diagram were also used to analyse the causes of the wastes in Cold Temperatures Limited. The takt time was calculated after drawing the current state of Cold Temperatures Limited with the value stream map. This helped in the determination of the pace of service delivery. A future state map was then drawn indicating the improvement needed areas after which lean technique was applied in the minimization of the wastes identified. In conclusion, the researcher observed the service delivery of Cold Temperatures Limited to be poor due to several factors and therefore recommended the maintenance and delivery preparation departments to be joined together in order to eliminate the waste of motion between these departments. A total of eight thousand layers were used for the on-farm study. Total eggs for each strain were determined by recording and counting each day’s production. The defective eggs were sorted out and the totals were recorded. Percentage for the defective eggs were then calculated. Data were taken four times a day at partic-ular time intervals. Strains 1 and 2 were 47 weeks and strain 3 was 82 weeks old at the start of the study. Data collected were analysed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with the aid of Genstat, Fifteenth Edition (2012) and the treatment means were separated using the Tukey’s Stu-dentized Range Test. Strain 2 produced the highest number of eggs (p< 0.05) but recorded the low-est percentage of defective eggs (p< 0.05). Strain 3 produced the lowest number of eggs (p< 0.05) and yet recorded the highest percentage of defective eggs (p< 0.05). The number of eggs collected and the percentage of defective eggs were significantly different (p< 0.0) among the strains.
